FFI announces Matt Jockers as new President and CEO

Fly Fishers International (FFI) has announced that Matthew “Matt” Jockers has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1st. A lifelong flyfisher and an FFI Certified Casting Instructor, Jockers steps into the role with a deep personal connection to the sport, and more than three decades experience leading large, mission-driven organizations.

Jockers has more than 30 years in higher education, having served as a Professor of Literature and Data Analytics, as Associate Dean of Research at University of Nebraska, and as Dean of College of Arts and Sciences at Washington State University. He has also helped launched technology startups, and most recently, served as Distinguished Research Scientist and Senior Engineering Manager at Apple.

According to FFI Board Chair Tilda Evans, Jockers stood out among several outstanding candidates due to his broad-based background, significant leadership experience and long connection to the fly fishing community.

Matt will replace Rhonda Sellers, who has served as Executive Director since December 2023, and who will retire after many years with FFI in 2027.
